Faculty: RSVP for the second annual Engagement Incubator - Dec. 3

Mark your calendars for the second annual Engagement Incubator, hosted by the Office of Community Engaged Learning and Global Engagement. It will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 in Kochoff Hall.

The Engagement Incubator is a space for community partners and faculty to build collaborations for engaged coursework and research projects.

Any faculty and community partnerships and projects that grow from this event will be given priority in the 2027 OCEL Seed Grant cycle and 2027 SURE applications.

Community partners include: LAHC, Brilliant Detroit, Transportation Riders United, City of Dearborn - Department of Economic Development, Arab American National Museum and more.

Please RSVP using this form by Oct. 31.

Apply for the CC/CE Attribute by the Dec. 1 deadline

Do you invite a guest speaker to speak to your students? Do you take your students on a field trip? Do you have your students work on a project for a community partner? If you said yes to any of these questions, it is likely that your course qualifies for a Community Connected or Community Engaged course attribute. In fact, any course that interacts with an external partner for whatever reason needs a CC or CE attribute.

CC courses offer entry-level opportunities for students to interact with external partners, such as guest speakers or site visits. CE courses involve deeper collaboration, where students work with partners on mutually-beneficial projects or assignments over the course of a semester. Read more in depth definitions at the top of the application.

To accommodate the new year-long scheduling process, courses being taught in Fall 2027, Winter 2028 and Summer 2028 need their course attributes ideally by Dec. 1, 2026. This advance notice allows students to see a complete picture as they register for future courses.

Please apply for the CC and CE attributes for your future courses ASAP using this form. If you are unsure, Elspeth from OCEL is happy to consult with you,
