The fall semester just started and Dearborn Wolverines are already off to the races — the Cardboard Boat Races, that is.
UM-Dearborn Homecoming Week takes next week and kicks off at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Chancellor’s Pond with that campus tradition event, along with a Pep Rally.
“Homecoming instills pride in the university and brings so many people to talk about the past, present and future of the university,” says Athletics Director Bryan Earl. “The sense of community that takes place during UM-Dearborn Homecoming when students, faculty, staff, and alumni come together is special.” The weeks’ events were organized by Athletics, Student Life and the Alumni Engagement offices.
In addition to campus’ mainstay Homecoming events, there’s a fun new challenge, says Campus-Wide and Family Program Coordinator Jennifer Kowalczyk. To get students excited for the week, there’s a Homecoming competition between student organizations and athletic teams. Points are awarded at each event based on attendance, performance, and more Totals will be tallied at the week’s end for a prize. “Homecoming encapsulates the best of our community spirit,” Kowalczyk says. “The week’s activities truly allow everyone to reinforce their sense of identity and belonging at UM-Dearborn.”
