Essential Program Information
- We require 1 adult chaperone for every 10 children in the group. Please make these arrangements before requesting your program.
- Please make sure your students, as well as adult chaperones, are dressed appropriately for hands-on, extended outdoor explorations in potentially challenging weather conditions. Long pants, layered clothing, and durable shoes are highly recommended.
- Prepare students and chaperones for appropriate field trip behavior. The outdoor program site is a nature sanctuary and Environmental Study Area, so quiet group behavior is essential to a successful, focused, and non-disruptive program. Cell phones should be silenced and pocketed. No plants or animals are to be collected from the area. Smoking is not allowed on the UM-Dearborn campus.
- We strongly recommend bringing and applying insect repellent for mosquitoes and ticks. The outdoor program site is known to have ticks, including Deer Ticks, the type that can carry Lyme Disease. As such, we recommend taking measures to prevent tick exposure, including applying insect repellent that repels ticks, wearing long pants, and staying on marked trails.
