Assistant professor Thomas Fiore has assumed responsibilities as co-editor in chief at the Journal of Mathematics and Music. He and Marek Zabka (Comenius University, Slovakia) were elected by the Editorial Board in November. The Journal is the flagship publication of the international Society for Mathematics and Computation in Music. Fiore's other research interests lie in higher category theory and homotopy theory.
Jonathan Larson, coordinator of LGBTQ and inclusion initiatives, received the Building Bridges Award from the Arab Student Union (ASU) during the Eighth Annual Empowering the Youth Banquet. ASU members thanked Larson for the support and guidance he has given the student organization.
