Preparations continue as University of Michigan-Dearborn anticipates moving into 15,000 square feet of leased space within The Union at Dearborn next fall. Now, thanks to a contest sponsored by Student Government, the space has a new name.

Victors' Den, a name submitted by student Aaron Turner, is the name for the space that will feature special programming, individual and group study areas, gathering spaces and university offices. The theater within the Victors' Den, will be called House of Blue, submitted by Devin Robinson.

“Allowing students to decide on the name was a great way to actively engage them in this exciting project,” said Dennis Lienhardt, Jr., Student Government president. “Asking for their input showed how much the administration respects and honors the opinions of students.”

Student Government received more than 100 submissions. Turner and Robinson will each receive a $100 gift card to the bookstore or McKinley Café for their winning entries.

The Union at Dearborn is a privately owned development offering housing to students at University of Michigan-Dearborn and is scheduled to open Fall 2013. The Union at Dearborn is owned by Urban Campus Communities (UCC). Asset Campus Housing will manage the facility. It is not owned or operated by UM-Dearborn.
