Alan Argento, professor of mechanical engineering received a $12,000 Research Experience for Undergraduates Supplement award from the National Science Foundation. This supplement will enable two undergraduate students to work with researchers from Ford Motor Company to study the micro structure behaviors of biocomposite foams.
PEERRS Research Ethics Training Modules
PEERRS is the University of Michigan “Program for Education and Evaluation in Responsible Research and Scholarship.” It is a web-based program of educational modules that cover a variety of research ethics topics. Topics include: Conflict of Interest; Foundations of Good Research Practice; Publication, Authorship and Peer Review; Research Administration; Animal Subjects; and Human Subjects.
Researchers who receive external grant support or who conduct research involving human or animal subjects must complete PEERRS Certification prior to beginning their research. PEERRS can be accessed via Wolverine Access. An additional link to PEERS can be found on the eResearch Regulatory Management homepage.
Researchers should note that the PEERRS modules have recently changed. Certification can only be obtained by completing both the education module and passing the end of module quiz. The quiz can be retaken as many times as necessary to pass. No record will be kept of the number of attempts that are made.
