Chancellor's update

Chancellor Domenico Grasso provided the following campus updates at the public meeting.

  • UM-Dearborn received the most gifts in a single Giving Blueday, over 1,000, with the largest beneficiary being the Go Blue Guarantee.
  • Lecturer Kristian Stewart received a Fulbright Scholar Award for her project titled, "Being Human Today: A Digital Storytelling Pedagogy for Teaching English or Training Future Educators."
  • Grasso shared updates from his recent advocacy efforts with the state legislature in support of Governor Whitmer’s higher education budget and his recent attendance at the Presidents’ Convening on College Student Mental Health and Wellbeing summit, at Georgetown University, sponsored by the Mary Christie Institute. It's part of his commitment to improve mental health and well-being of students, faculty and staff on campus.

The Regents approved the following personnel actions. 

New appointments of instructional staff represented by the Lecturer’s Employee Organization.   

Thomas G. Steiner, M.S., Lecturer II, Computer and Information Science, CECS, January 1-April 30, 2022

The following gifts of $10,000 or more were recognized. 

MAHLE Technology, Inc., $50,000 in support of the Engineering Lab Building Renovation Fund 
Vitec Accounts Payable, $35,000 in support of the Autonomous Shuttle Project
Lecturers Employee Organization, $25,000 in support of the LEO Scholarship 
Dr. Bruce L. Whitaker, $18,500 in support of the COB Endowed Scholarship and the First-Generation Scholarship
