Education & Programs

The Environmental Interpretive Center has been providing experiential environmental education for more than 40 years. The EIC provides opportunities for students and community members of all ages to explore and learn about nature first hand in the 120-acre Environmental Study Area.

The EIC offers many interesting and educational outdoor experiences for various audiences and covering a range of environmental topics. For example, the Birding By Ear program introduces visually impaired students to birding and the outdoors. Many different programs are offered throughout the year that let you experience the different seasons. Follow the links below to learn more about what we have to offer.

Programs for School Groups	Programs for school groups intended to complement various Grade Level Content as defined by the State of Michigan.	Fee-based*
Programs for Ages 4-18	Programs that meet repeatedly for several days in succession, over several months, or the entire school year (e.g., Young Naturalist Programs, Children's Gardening program, Homeschool programs, etc.)	Fee-based
Birding by Ear and Beyond	Program that introduces visually impaired students to birding and the outdoors.	Free
Public Programs and Events	Seasonal nature walks, events, etc.	Free
Michigan Master Naturalist Program	Six-months program for adults in collaboration with MSU Extension. Offered during odd years.	Fee-based
