September 25, 2013

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) is pleased to announce two new grant programs available to students this year.

An overview of the programs is listed below, and application deadlines along with guidelines for all available campus grants are available on the ORSP website.

  • Grants for Student Presentation Preparation Costs are available to undergraduate and graduate students for up to $200 per fiscal year toward presentation materials, posters and related preparation costs. Students may apply at any time during the year by following the guidelines on the ORSP website.
  • Graduate Student Research Grants are available for up to $2,500 toward thesis or dissertation research projects by UM-Dearborn graduate students. The first submission deadline this year is Tuesday, October 15. Eligible students must submit a completed application form along with the information specified in the guidelines on the ORSP website to be considered.

These two new student grants supplement the existing student research support program, which includes the following:

  • Student Research Grants of up to $500 provide funds for independent research projects by UM-Dearborn undergraduate and graduate students. The project must be supervised by a faculty member and the project will ordinarily be related to the student’s major field of study. Students may apply at any time during the year by following the guidelines.
  • Student Research Travel Grants of up to $300 per student are provided to cover some of the costs of traveling to national professional meetings to present papers based on research conducted at UM-Dearborn. Funds are generally not available for state or regional meetings. Students may apply at any time during the year by following the guidelines.
