Please be aware of the following UM-Dearborn Office of Research closure dates and the potential impact on your proposal timelines:

The UM-Dearborn Office of Research will be CLOSED from 5 pm Friday, December 20, 2024 until 8 am Thursday, January 2, 2025. For proposals due to the sponsor between Thursday, Dec 26 and Wednesday, Jan 8, 2025 our office must receive your final, ready-to-submit proposal by 12 noon on Friday, Dec 20

Please plan accordingly. Failure to meet the timelines provided by our office means we may not be able to provide support and your proposal may be at risk of not being submitted.

The Office of Research supports the efforts of the faculty and researchers of the University of Michigan- Dearborn in seeking, securing, and carrying out research projects and collaborative efforts. The Research Development and Research Administration team members provide professional expertise, excellence in service, and guidance to all campus units in the process of applying for external funding.

Free consultation and writing services are available to all UM-Dearborn faculty. Services require advance planning and notice. Please review the services available and required time before submitting a request.

Initiate the process to apply for externally sponsored funding by completing this form at least 20 business days prior to the submission deadline. A pre-award proposal specialist will be assigned to work with you.

The UM-Dearborn Office of Research works in collaboration with central administrative offices of the University of Michigan, such as the Research Development team in the University of Michigan Office of the Vice President for Research, the Ann Arbor Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP), the University of Michigan Office of Research (UMOR), the Office of Contract Administration (OCA), and the Sponsored Programs Office (Finance).

On campus, we partner with the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations to engage with industry and non-profit partners and expand the opportunities for productive research and collaborations.

Our office is reachable via email & virtual meetings Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Limited in-person office hours and phone coverage will be available Monday - Thursday, 8 am - 5 pm.
