Delve Into Arab American Culture and History
The minor or integrative studies concentration in Arab American studies helps students understand:
- The unique circumstances surrounding the incorporation of Arab immigrants into American society
- The broad range of diversity found within Arab American communities
- How the Arab American experience is shaped by local, national and international conditions
- The contributions of Arab Americans to American history and culture
The minor or concentration consists of 15 credits, including your choice of two introductory courses and 12 additional credits of upper-level courses in Arab American Studies (AAST). You also can choose a few courses from other disciplines as listed in the UM-Dearborn Catalog. The AAST courses cover subjects like public history in Arab Detroit, Arabs and Muslims in media, Arab Americans since 1890, Arab American identity, and Middle Eastern diasporas, among others.
