About UM-Dearborn Research

Since the university’s founding, UM-Dearborn has always had roots in highly practical research. We’re proud to say that spirit still motivates our research enterprise today, though as the world’s major challenges have changed, we’ve changed along with them. Our faculty ranks now include experts in a wide range of emerging and evolving disciplines like sustainability, mobility, educational research and curriculum innovation, additive manufacturing and materials, social equity, cyber-physical systems, bioengineering, 21st century energy systems, and urban arts — just to name a few of the areas we count as strengths. Moreover, we pride ourselves in having highly interdisciplinary teams that love working collaboratively to solve complex problems requiring multiple perspectives. You’ll also see from our body of work that we believe everyone has a role to play in research — whether you’re an undergrad or post-doc, an early-career faculty member or renowned veteran.
