Learn How to Be an Effective Advocate for Change
Whether you want to work on issues of poverty, race, and community-building professionally or as an engaged citizen, our 18-credit minor or integrative studies concentration at the University of Michigan-Dearborn will provide the training you need to be effective. Our interdisciplinary program will help you build skills in critical thinking, team building, organizing, and being an agent of positive social change.
You’ll learn about effective methods of civic engagement and leadership as currently practiced in metropolitan Detroit and explore issues involving social and political power, race, culture, class, and gender. Most importantly, you’ll put what you learn into practice during an internship at a municipal or regional governmental office, a nonprofit or community organization, or a business.
