National Transfer Student Week

Celebrate. Connect. Belong. 

Each October, colleges and universities across the country come together to celebrate National Transfer Student Week — a time to recognize and support the journeys of transfer students. Whether you’re just starting to explore your next steps or already part of our Wolverine community, UM-Dearborn is proud to celebrate your achievements and highlight the opportunities that make transferring here seamless and rewarding.

At UM-Dearborn, over one-third of our undergraduate students started their college careers somewhere else — and they bring with them unique experiences, talents, and perspectives that strengthen our campus community.

Join us for a week of events, activities, and opportunities designed to celebrate and support transfer students.

All Week Long (Monday - Friday):

• Transfer Student Treat Bag Giveaway
  10 am - 5 pm
  Library Research Center, Mardigian Library
  Stop by and pick up a tote bag filled with goodies at the Library Research Center (located on the 1st floor of the Mardigian Library).

• Transfer Student Learning Center Raffle
  9 am - 5 pm
  Transfer students can get academic support at the Learning Centers and enter to win a prize.

Monday, October 19:

• Student Organization Fair
  10 am - 1 pm
  Kochoff Hall, Renick University Center
  Explore student organizations, meet other Wolverines and find ways to get involved on campus.

• Career Drop-Ins
  1:30 - 2:30 pm
  Location: RUC 1174
  Have career questions? Stop by for drop-in career support on job searches, exploring resources, networking, internships, resumes, and more.

• Mardigian Monday: Transfer Student Edition
  3- 5 pm
  Recreational Collection Area, Mardigian Library
  Take a break and connect with other students! Drop in for board games and snacks.

Tuesday, October 20:

• Mapping History
  11 am - 1 pm
  Mardigian Library
  Already got a handle on navigating a new campus? Test yourself to see if you could have found your way around campus twenty, thirty, forty, or fifty years ago by matching historical photos of campus to their present day locations.

• Undergraduate Research Opportunities Information Session (Virtual)
  2 - 3 pm
  Virtual
  Learn about opportunities to get involved in undergraduate research at UM-Dearborn.

• Share Your Transfer Story!
  1 - 3 pm
  Location: RUC 1175 (Lake Ontario Room)
  Current transfer students are invited to share their UM-Dearborn experience on camera and help future transfer students learn what it’s really like to transfer.

Wednesday, October 21:

• “Check-It Out” at the Mardigian Library
  11 am - 1 pm
  Mardigian Library
  Stop by the Mardigian Library lobby to learn about all the things you can check out from the Mardigian Library! Board games, calculators, lab googles, books and more!

Thursday, October 22:

• College of Engineering and Computer Science Open House and Drop-In Advising
  1 - 3 pm
  1084 Engineering Lab Building
  Current transfer students are invited to stop by for drop-in advising and to explore the resources offered through the CECS Career Success Hub and Engineering Learning Center. 

• Owning Your Transfer Story - Building Your Resume and LinkedIn (Virtual)
  3 -4 pm
  Virtual
  Learn how to turn your transfer experience into a compelling story for your resume, LinkedIn profile and future employers.

• Library Orientation
  3 - 4 pm (In-Person - Mardigian Library 1211)
  6 - 7 pm (Virtual - Zoom Link to Join)
