Ways to Pay
How can I pay my tuition bill?
One of the most important things in college is paying your tuition bill. Whether you use financial aid and scholarships, a payment plan, or a third party payer (like an employer, or VA), it is important to know what to expect and what you need to do to keep your account in good standing. Tuition is due on the third Wednesday of the first month of each semester.
Using Financial Aid to Pay
When financial aid funds (loans, grants, scholarships) are disbursed, these funds are applied to your tuition account which reduces your tuition balance to the university. If your financial aid funds exceed your tuition balance, the excess funds will be processed as a refund to you either as a direct deposit to your chosen financial institution or sent to you as a paper check by mail to your address of record with the university.
The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships strongly encourages students to enroll in direct deposit with Student Accounts for faster processing and delivery of funds.
The first financial aid disbursement of each semester is no earlier than 10 days prior to the beginning of the semester. After the end of the Add/Drop period, financial aid disbursements will be made on the regularly scheduled days of Monday and Thursday.
Your Payments to the University
You are able to make a payment online using an electronic check or credit card, or by alternative payment methods via cash, mailing, or drop box. For additional information, please review the Payment Methods webpage.
You can also set up a monthly payment plan online for the semester with Student Accounts. There is a $40 convenience fee.
Payments by a Third Party
If part or all of your tuition is paid by a third party, please follow the Student Accounts instructions.
Examples of Third Party Payers
- Michigan Education Trust (MET)
- MESP or other 529 Educational Saving Plans
- Employer or other third party payments for tuition
- Veterans Benefits
Each month, Student Accounts sends a statement to the university email account of each student who has a tuition balance with a special link directing you to your account.
