Biography and Education

Jing Kong is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Michigan-Dearborn College of Business. Jing holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and Information Systems from Michigan State University and Master’s degrees from Michigan State University and University of New South Wales.

At Dearborn College of Business, Jing teaches undergraduate and graduate cost accounting and analysis. She has previously taught Intermediate Financial Accounting and Principles of Financial Accounting at Michigan State University Broad College of Business.

Research


My primary research interests include the effects of climate change on firm operations and how external monitoring (such as media, credit rating agencies) shapes corporate environmental policies. I am also interested in using textual analysis and machine-learning approaches to investigate beyond traditional financial data.
