Practice-Based Learning at UM-DearbornThe College of Business iLabs is a research institute dedicated to creating meaningful impact in and outside the university by engaging with students, businesses and the community through project-based learning, research and entrepreneurial activities.

iLabs provides students with real-world experiences to achieve critical soft skills necessary for success in their education and careers. These include communication, time management, teamwork and problem-solving.

iLabs hosts a multitude of activities under one umbrella. Not only does it conduct the Business Idea Pitch Competition, but it also allows students to conduct their own research and connects them with business partners, offering students more marketable skills. Additionally, iLabs provides opportunities for students to use business analytics and marketing to acquire skills highly sought after by employers.

Since 2006, hundreds of students have worked on iLabs projects, including the College of Business Experiential Education Study, the eCities Project and the College of Business Marketing Strategy Initiative.
