Additional Merit for Merit-eligible Faculty and Staff (November 2, 2023)
Dear Colleagues,
I am writing with news regarding merit pay for merit-eligible faculty and staff.
I communicated this summer a 1% across-the-board merit increase for all merit-eligible faculty and staff that was effective September 1. Consideration for an additional salary increase was dependent on enrollment and financial performance indicators.
There is much to celebrate this semester; we welcomed our largest freshman class, graduation rates have increased, and state appropriations were up. There are also areas that were not as positive for our university. Our overall enrollment decreased by 2%, our retention rates continue to struggle, healthcare costs have risen, and inflation is impacting our purchases of goods and services.
Based on our current financial health, all merit-eligible employees will receive $1,500 added to their base pay effective January 1, 2024.
As a reminder, we will allow faculty and staff to enjoy paid time off during two periods this year. The university will close the entire week of November 20 for the Thanksgiving holiday and December 21 and 22, in advance of the season days. Student/temporary employees and bargained-for employees are not eligible for the paid time off.
Thank you for your commitment to the university’s mission and for your many contributions, in support of our students.
In appreciation, Go Dearborn!
