Cultivate and ensure a culture of respect at UM-Dearborn (May 21, 2019)
Dear Colleagues,
Our university community is committed to prevent sexual harassment and misconduct. Behaviors tied to sexual harassment, misconduct and related actions have no place at UM-Dearborn or society in general and are contrary to the standards of our campus culture.
President Schlissel has announced a mandatory initiative, for all three campuses and Michigan Medicine, that will help advance a respectful, inclusive and equitable working and learning environment free from sexual harassment and misconduct. UM-Dearborn has worked hard to establish a diverse, welcoming and nurturing community where we are passionately vested in our collective and individual professional growth and success. This new initiative is very much aligned with our campus commitment to being the leaders and best.
The university has created a new online module, “Cultivating a Culture of Respect: Sexual Harassment and Misconduct Awareness.” Participation in this online program is mandatory for all UM-Dearborn faculty and staff members, including student, temporary, bargained-for and graduate student employees.
The module is currently active. Please allow 15 minutes for completion. I encourage you to complete this training as soon as possible.
For more information about resources available to faculty and staff members, visit sexualmisconduct.umich.edu or contact our Human Resources Office at [email protected] or 313-593-5190. Individuals who have concerns about sexual harassment or sexual misconduct are encouraged to report them to the Office for Institutional Equity, [email protected] or 313-436-9194.
Thank you for your commitment to this important initiative.
Sincerely,
Domenico Grasso
Chancellor
