Federal Government Transition (January 22, 2025)

Dear Colleagues and Students,

As the federal government starts a new chapter with new executive and legislative leaders, we are poised to see significant shifts in policies and laws that could possibly influence education, research, healthcare, and the operation of our institution.

During this period of transition, we understand that uncertainty can be unsettling. Please rest assured that we are fully committed to supporting our community and continuing our essential work all while steadfastly upholding the values that define UM-Dearborn.

University leadership has initiated a comprehensive process to assess the potential implications of new executive orders and policies. Through this process, the effects of these developments on all three campuses, including Michigan Medicine, will be rigorously evaluated. Once we have a thorough understanding of the scope and impact of these changes, we will devise strategic approaches that align with our core mission and values while addressing emerging policies and regulations.

The evolving political landscape may generate diverse perspectives within our faculty, staff, and student body. As an institution, we remain committed to neutrality on political and social matters that fall outside the immediate scope of our operations. While we will not issue institutional statements on specific executive orders or policies, rest assured we are firmly committed to conducting a detailed review to evaluate their implications and safeguarding our principles.

Thank you for your ongoing dedication to our remarkable campus and our important mission.

Go Blue! Go Dearborn!
