Greetings from Chancellor Domenico Grasso
August 1, 2018
Dear Colleagues,
It is with sincere pleasure that I write to you on my first day as the sixth Chancellor of the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
UM-Dearborn is a special place – originally forged as a partnership between the University of Michigan and Ford Motor Company, the campus was designed to be an experimental venue where the superb quality of the University of Michigan would be unmistakable throughout all its endeavors. Continuing in this spirit today, UM-Dearborn provides a life-transforming education for our students, supports our faculty and staff in the pursuit of new and consequential knowledge and practice, and serves the best interests of our community, state and nation, inhered by a stalwart commitment to inclusive excellence. To be sure, it is this coupling of access and excellence that truly distinguishes this purposeful campus.
I am grateful to President Schlissel and the Regents for their faith in me and commitment to the success of this exciting campus. I am also thankful to former Chancellor Little for his 18 – years of service and distinguished accomplishments.
On a more personal note, reflecting on my return to the University of Michigan, it strikes me that both my professional and individual experiences have prepared me for this distinct moment in our mutual stories. It is with great privilege that I begin to serve this university and work with you to write the next chapter of its history. I promise to do the best I can to help realize the fullest potential of the University of Michigan-Dearborn and make it the finest it can be.
With all good wishes - GO BLUE!
Domenico Grasso
Chancellor
