Message from Chancellor Grasso on the Israel-Gaza war (Oct 10, 2023)

Dear UM-Dearborn Community,

The most recent outbreak of horrific violence and loss of lives in Israel and Gaza is  unconscionable and heartbreaking. By all accounts this crisis is far from over and will very likely continue to escalate. This situation is deeply personal for many on our campus and in our greater Dearborn community. These are times of deep sorrow and anxiety for our entire community, especially the many who have family, loved ones and deep ties to the region.

With so many on our campus experiencing pain, loss, fear and uncertainty, this is a clarion call to come together and do all that we can to support one another. Please know that UM-Dearborn remains steadfast in our commitment to creating a peaceful and caring environment for everyone.

I encourage anyone who needs support during this time to access our university’s resources. Students can find help through CAPS, the university’s counseling and psychological services. Faculty and staff can access services through the Faculty and Staff Counseling and Consultation Office

With hope for a peaceful future,

Domenico Grasso
Chancellor
