Provost Transition (May 14, 2021)
Dear Colleagues,
I write to share important news regarding a Provost Office transition. Sue Alcock will be stepping down from her position as provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs effective June 30, 2021.
Sue joined our campus just prior to the start of the COVID pandemic. 2020 was a very difficult year for the entire campus community. We are grateful for her leadership of the university’s academic mission that helped create the best possible teaching and learning experience for our faculty and students during these challenging times. The entire campus community is grateful for her dedication, counsel and creativity during these challenging times.
Sue has assembled a talented team of associate provosts and fellows, and along with the deans, has helped make many strategic leadership decisions in the areas of enrollment management, research and academic innovation that have positioned the university well for the future. She has also been a partner in helping to create and realize the vision for our campus’s strategic plan.
I know you share my respect and appreciation for Sue’s impact on our campus community.
In the coming weeks, I will name an interim provost, subject to regental approval.
Sincerely,
Domenico Grasso
Chancellor
