Regents Approve FY26 Budget (June 13, 2025)

Dear Colleagues,

Yesterday, the Board of Regents approved UM-Dearborn’s $184 million general fund budget for fiscal year 2026. This year’s budget maintains our focus on affordability, accessibility, and student success.

I am very pleased to share that this year’s budget also includes a merit increase of up to 3% for all merit-eligible faculty and staff. While we are paying close attention to current uncertainties that could impact our budget, this increase is possible due to prudent decisions made by Chancellor Grasso and our finance team in prior years. It is both a recognition of your dedication and an investment in our students, who benefit daily from their interactions with you. This increase will take effect July 1, which is earlier than prior years when merit increases were effective in September.

I want to express my appreciation to our Faculty and Staff Senates, as well as our University Budget Committee, who all made important contributions to our budget conversations. I would also like to thank Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs Bryan Dadey and his team for leading the budgeting process.

You can read more about the FY26 budget in this news story in the U-M Record.

With sincere appreciation,
Gabriella Scarlatta
