Reminder - Election Day is November 5 (October 17, 2024)

Dear Colleagues and Students,

The 2024 election is just over two weeks away. I’m proud to say that UM-Dearborn students are at the top of the nation in election participation: nearly 90% of our voting-eligible students are registered to vote and the majority of those students went to the polls in the midterm election.

If you are not yet registered, I strongly encourage you to do so on or before Election Day, Tuesday, November 5. You can register as late as Election Day at your city or township clerk’s office and vote immediately after. Learn more about registering to vote.

If you are already registered, you can vote early if you wish. Days and times vary by community. Find your early voting location and more information. You can also vote between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on November 5. Find your Election Day polling place.

If you wish to vote by mail, you may request an absentee ballot through the Michigan Secretary of State website or the Secretary of State office where you are registered. Visit Vote.org for information on absentee voting deadlines in every state.

Voting is a cherished right and one of the most important ways to contribute to your community. This November, we are not just electing a new president, we are selecting members of Congress as well as city council members, sheriffs, judges, and many other local officials, as well as deciding on ballot measures like funding for libraries and schools.

Michigan residents can learn more at the Michigan Voter Information Center. If you are registered to vote elsewhere in the U.S., visit your home state’s Secretary of State website. If you’re not eligible to vote in U.S. elections, you can still volunteer and educate others on the issues.

I encourage you to participate in our democracy — and a Dearborn Wolverine tradition — by voting on November 5.
