Update on Organizational Change

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing regarding an organizational change on our campus. 

The Office of Metropolitan Impact (OMI) currently reports to the Office of the Chancellor.  In collaboration with Interim Provost Gabriella Scarlatta, we have decided to change the reporting relationship for OMI, which will henceforth report to the Office of the Provost. 

Established in 2011, OMI was charged with providing a strategic framework for the University of Michigan-Dearborn’s community engagement activities and focused on building mutually beneficial university-community partnerships that worked to advance our region. The change in reporting structure reflects a specific focus on supporting faculty and student success efforts related to practice-based education and expanding our scholarship and research portfolio in the area of urban futures.  This change underscores the importance of directly aligning OMI’s efforts with the university’s strategic academic objectives.

In the coming weeks, Interim Provost Scarlatta and her team will work closely with OMI to finalize the transition.
