Grace Helms Kotre, MSW
Biography and Education
Grace Helms Kotre teaches courses in stress management and social work at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. She joined the faculty at the College of Education, Health, and Human Services (CEHHS) in 2019 and is thrilled to be a part of the UM-Dearborn community.
Grace is passionate about using contemplative practices to promote social justice. She has served as an activist, educator, and organizer with City Year Chicago, Outreach 360, the SERVE Project at the University of Michigan’s Ginsberg Center for Community Service and Learning, and for several years on staff with the Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice.
Grace is a Certified Mindfulness Instructor and has been practicing mindfulness and meditation since 2009. As the founder of Power to Be, LLC, she offers workshops and presentations on using mindfulness as a tool for personal healing and equity-based social change.
