Biography and Education

A recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Award, Julie Anne Taylor has taught at the University of Michigan-Dearborn for 24 years. Dr. Taylor conducts research on history education, intercultural and arts education, and medieval history. At a secondary school in Detroit, she led enrichment programming in history, art, and culture for over eight years. She serves on the advisory board of the international journal, Teaching History: A Journal of Methods. Dr. Taylor earned her PhD degree in history from the University of Cambridge. She is the author of Muslims in Medieval Italy: The Colony at Lucera and more than two dozen articles in the fields of history and education. Her new book, Medieval Western Europe: Power, Culture, and Convergence, is forthcoming from Common Ground Research Networks.
