Biography and Education

Zhixin Liu, Ph.D., Professor of Decision Science at the University of Michigan-Dearborn College of Business. He received a B.S. degree in Computational Mathematics from Nankai University, an M.S. degree in Operations Research from Tsinghua University, and a Ph.D. degree in Operations Management from Ohio State University. He is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) and the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS). He teaches courses such as Quantitative Model and Analysis, Supply Chain Management, Applied Statistical Modeling, Management Science, Applied Forecasting, and Decision Analysis at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He teaches both on-campus and online courses.

Research

Dr. Liu's research interests include scheduling, capacity allocation, and pricing, specifically those with game issues. His work has been published in Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, INFORMS Journal on Computing, Games and Economic Behavior, Naval Research Logistics, IISE Transactions, Decision Sciences, Journal of Banking and Finance, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Operations Research Letters, Journal of Scheduling, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, OMEGA: The International Journal of Management Science, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Computers & Operations Research, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, etc. He is on the Editorial Review Board for Production and Operations Management.

Dr. Liu has received summer research support from the College of Business every academic year since joining the college in 2007. He is the recipient of the College of Business Distinguished Performance in Service Award in 2021, the College of Business Distinguished Performance in Research Award in 2020, and the College of Business Researcher of the Year Awards in 2015 and 2019.
