Marcus Harris is a Lecturer of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Professor Harris is a practitioner-scholar whose research interests include social entrepreneurship and social innovation, urban entrepreneurship and microenterprise development, and nonprofit management and leadership. He has taught courses in Entrepreneurship, Management, and Strategy for the past 10 years at institutions including Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD), Oakland University, and Lawrence Technological University. He also serves as an entrepreneur trainer and coach for various community-based neighborhood micro-enterprise development programs in inner-city Detroit. Professor Harris also serves as a consultant for the Detroit Community Development Financial Institutions Coalition, a consortium of organizations who provide financial assistance and capacity building to neighborhood improvement initiatives.

Professor Harris has 19 years of professional experience in corporate information technology (IT) management, nonprofit management, and small business consulting. Professor Harris received his Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree from Lawrence Technological University. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Harris lives in Detroit with his five year-old daughter, Violet.
