Biography and Education

Jeffrey Bouwman is an Adjunct Science Education and Educational Technology Adjunct Professor at the University of Michigan – Dearborn.  After earning two Graduate Degrees from the University of Michigan – Dearborn, he joined the College of Education, Health, and Human Services (CEHHS) in January 2011.  Mr. Bouwman truly enjoys sharing his passion for science, technology, and teaching with future teachers.

In addition to teaching at the University of Michigan – Dearborn, Mr. Bouwman is a Sixth and Seventh Grade Science Teacher and Robotics Coach at Shumate Middle School (Gibraltar School District) in Gibraltar, Michigan.  Mr. Bouwman is an active participant in the Michigan Department of Natural Resource’s Salmon in the Classroom program, Sturgeon for Tomorrow’s Sturgeon in the Classroom program, the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow (CoCoRaHS) Network, and the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program.

In September 2016, Mr. Bouwman helped launch the first WeatherSTEM weather station in the state of Michigan – Gibraltar School District WeatherSTEM. Data collected by the weather station is utilized to enhance STEM education, keep the community informed and safe, and is shared with GLOBE Program.
