Biography and Education

Zhixin Liu, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Decistion Science at the University of Michigan-Dearborn College of Business. He received the B.S. degree in Computational Mathematics from Nankai University, the M.S. degree in Operations Research from Tsinghua University, and the Ph.D. degree in Operations Management from Ohio State University. He is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), and the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS). He teaches courses such as Quantitative Model and Analysis, Supply Chain Management, Applied Statistical Modeling, Management Science, Applied Forecasting, and Decision Analysis, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He teaches both on campus and online courses.


Dr. Liu's research interests include scheduling, capacity allocation, and pricing, specifically those with game issues. His work has been published in Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, INFORMS Journal on Computing, Naval Research Logistics, IIE Transactions, Decision Sciences, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Games and Economic Behavior, Operations Research Letters, Journal of Scheduling, European Journal of Operational Research, OMEGA: The International Journal of Management Science, Computers & Operations Research, Journal of Banking and Finance, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, etc. He is on the Editorial Review Board for Production and Operations Management.

Dr. Liu’s research is supported by the Ford-University of Michigan Innovation Alliance, and the National Natural Science Foundations of China through collaborations with colleagues at Wuhan University and South China University of Technology. He receives summer research support from the College of Business every academic year since joining the college in 2007. He is the recipient of the Researcher of the Year Award from the College of Business for the 2014-2015 academic year.
