Read and Research Great Literature

If you’d like to study literature from around the world in English translation, our minor or integrative studies concentration in comparative literature at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is for you. Besides reading great literature, you’ll research and analyze the cultural and historical contexts of the texts you study.

The minor or integrative studies concentration consists of 12 credits of upper-level courses in comparative literature (COML). You can choose from courses in literary criticism, Arabic and comparative literature, the Arabic novel and short story, masterworks of Greek and Roman literature, modern European novels, the hero in literature, medieval mystical writers, immigrant literature, and more.
