Language, Culture, and the Arts

LCA focuses on professional communication, telling the human story, and global engagement.

At the University of Michigan-Dearborn, these disciplines form a vital link to global cultures of the past, present, and future, and provide students with the resources they need to be critical, creative participants in a changing world.

A grounding in the Language, Culture, and the Arts (LCA) disciplines prepares students to face the challenges of today—challenges whose solutions depend on joining technical and scientific knowledge with a deep understanding of the world’s political, cultural and economic complexities.  Our mission is to develop global citizens who challenge, provoke, dream and engage in the project of building a better, humane, and more equitable world.
