Follow Your Passion Into Secondary Education

Student Teacher teaching a classroom

If you have a bachelor’s degree in a non-education subject but dream of teaching at a secondary school, our master’s degree in teaching will make it possible. The program prepares you to be a dynamic and effective middle school or high school educator in a subject of your choice: English language arts, math, integrated science, or social studies. When you complete the program and pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification exam, we’ll recommend you for teacher certification to the Michigan Department of Education.

Where a Master’s in Teaching Will Take You

Your degree will prepare you to teach the subject of your choice at the secondary school grade level you choose. From there, you can get more education to teach other subjects or at other grade levels. Your degree also helps prepare you to move beyond the classroom into roles such as instructional coordinator, counselor, or principal, among others.
