Carlos Rodriguez-McGill, Ph.D.

Carlos Rodríguez-McGill, (Ph.D., in Latin American Literature, Ohio State University) is an Associate Professor of Spanish and the coordinator of the Spanish Program. He teaches courses in all levels of Spanish language, Latin American Literatures and Cultures and Translation.

Carlos specializes in Colonial and XIX Century Latin American Literatures and Cultures, and focuses on the Southern Cone. Carlos' research incorporates literary theory, cultural studies, and popular culture.

He has presented papers at regional, national and international conferences such as MACLAS, SAMLA, MLA and LASA.  His research has been published in specialized journals such as: MACLAS (Mid-American Council Latin American Studies) (http://maclas.org/) Also, in DeRLAS (Delaware Latin American Review), (http://www.udel.edu/LASP/DeRLAS.html) and DECIMONÓNICA (http://www.decimononica.org/archives/vol5.2e.htm) among others.

He is currently working on a book length manuscript that studies the serialized detective novels of Eduardo Gutiérrez, and the creation of the modern national imaginary during the late nineteenth century in Argentina.
