Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, UM-Dearborn classes are being held remotely through the end of the semester, Summer I and Summer II. Most campus operations are being conducted remotely and buildings are closed. Before coming to campus please call ahead to determine how services are being delivered. Events have been postponed or canceled, including Spring 2020 Commencement. Pass/fail decision date extended to May 5. For more updates please visit the Coronavirus information page

Our Mission at the Writing Center

NOTE: The Writing Center will no longer be offering face-to-face appointments for the rest of this semester. Online appointments and eTutoring are both open and available to students! Get writing support in the comfort of your own home! For those of you new to online or eTutoring appointments, please visit our webpage explaining these two types of appointments. If you have any questions, or if online / eTutoring is not accessible to you (limited internet or technology access) please email the Writing Center coordinator.

The Writing Center aims to support UM-Dearborn students by providing one-to-one consultations on writing projects, presentations, assignments, and creative work. Our trained consultants are prepared to meet with you at any stage in the writing process, from brainstorming to revision. We will work with you to set and achieve goals and reflect on what you have accomplished in each meeting.

Because of the broad variety of spoken and written forms of English and the writing that happens across languages, we will work with you to communicate in the genre and voice most appropriate for your audience. Writing is a process and a practice, and our mission is to develop a community of writers for writers—a space for collaboration and mutual support.

Writing in the university can be an anxious and isolating task. Why do it alone? Make an appointment today!
