Nature Walks for Mental Health
These 45-minute guided nature walks are held bimonthly at the Environmental Interpretive Center (EIC), or what EIC Program Supervisor Rick Simek lovingly calls, “our very own health club.” They are excellent opportunities for meeting new people, improving environmental wellness, and escaping the stresses of everyday life.
Each stroll is led by EIC Naturalist who will point out and explain any interesting wildlife and natural phenomena that we come across along the way. In addition to this, a Mental Health and Wellness Peer Educator from Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will also attend each session to host brief guided meditations and mental health check-ins.
These walks are not only open to students, but also staff, faculty, and community members. Attendees will be entered into a swag raffle for every walk that they complete during the Fall semester, and will have the opportunity to win prizes like bottles of EIC maple syrup, high quality mugs, water bottles, tote bags, candles, and so much more during the final walk & celebration!
