Mike Callahan, director of COB's Internship and Career Management Center, implemented “gameful learning” to the course last year. The technique gives students a customizable learning experience by allowing them to choose from a variety of assignments.
In essence, every assignment is an opportunity to gain points and move closer to an A — rather than a chance to lower your class average because of one blown assignment. Attend an information interview? 50 points. Update your LinkedIn profile? 40 points.
“Entrepreneurs see the world through a lens of abundance; they’re open to exploring and looking for new opportunities,” Callahan said. “By offering BA 300 as a gameful learning experience, we’re encouraging students to think like entrepreneurs — to try new things and take ownership of figuring out their own path to success.”
