Building Our Campus

For more than 60 years, UM-Dearborn has worked for the greater good — transforming lives, educating students who will shape the world and constantly evolving to address the critical issues of contemporary times. To ensure financial stability for the next 60 years, we must:

• Implement the suggestions from the recently completed campus master plan that supports engaged learning.
• Pursue campus carbon-neutral operational practices and policies.
• Identify and secure additional sources of revenue.

We can also build our campus through transformative programming, which is embedded in UM-Dearborn’s campus and culture.

One initiative is the Center for Social Justice and Inclusion, an affirming, accessible and inclusive space where learning and compassion are fostered through community and belonging. Much of this is accomplished by hosting signature events, such as an LGBTQ+ Fall Mixer, recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month and holding a demonstration during Take Back The Night, a worldwide movement to stand against sexual violence.

Another example that showcases UM-Dearborn’s commitment to offering transformative programming is the Environmental Interpretive Center. The center’s integrated educational programs and research activities focus on raising public awareness of environmental issues and developing and implementing strategies for creating cleaner, healthier and more sustainable communities.
