SUBJECT: CASL Dean Announcement
May 25, 2023 at 4:01 PM
Dear Colleagues,
I hope you are doing well and enjoying this beautiful weather.
It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of the new Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters, Dr. Dagmar Budikova, pending the Regents’ approval.
Dr. Budikova received her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science in 1996 from the University of Toronto and her Ph.D. from the University of Calgary in 2001 with areas of focus in physical geography and climatology. She comes to our campus from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois, where she has served as Chair of the Geography, Geology, and the Environment Department since 2015. Prior to her appointment as department chair, she served as Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 2011-2015. She has been a member of ISU faculty since 2000.
Professor Budikova is highly regarded as a teacher and scholar. Her work as an environmental geoscientist specializing in physical geography, climatology, and hydroclimatology has focused on improving the understanding of natural climate variability and long-term climate change (natural and anthropogenic).
I have assembled an onboarding team that will help Dr. Budikova’s transition to her new role and to our campus. I want to thank Pamela Aronson, Nada Bachir, Rachel Buzzeo, Amy Finley, Susie Gassel, Ellen Judge-Gonzalez, Lisa Martin, Jacob Napieralski and Joan Remski for agreeing to dedicate their time, knowledge and kindness to serve on this team!
Dr. Budikova’s appointment begins on July 1st and I hope that you will have a chance to meet her and warmly welcome her to our campus and community shortly thereafter.
All the very best,
Gabriella
