SUBJECT: Celebration of Success: Higher Learning Commission Outcome

Greetings:

I hope everyone is doing well and you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break!

I am writing to extend my gratitude to everyone who participated in the recent Higher Learning Commission visit. It was truly outstanding to see the dedication and the commitment faculty, staff, students, and the Regents had in ensuring a successful visit. I appreciate each of you for your contributions.

With that said, I am also delighted to inform you that the HLC review team has shared its preliminary report where they determined that we have successfully met all the accreditation criteria. Please note that this is only a preliminary report and it will not be finalized until the HLC’s Institutional Actions Council meets to approve a final report. That approval usually takes 6 months from the date of the visit.

I hope you all are proud to have taken part in the successful HLC visit and take a moment to celebrate this significant achievement as it is a testament to the collective efforts, commitment, and excellence displayed by our campus community. At various points of the report, the HLC team praised your ongoing efforts at making UM-Dearborn a first-rate university. “The institution fosters a climate of respect among all students, faculty, staff and administrators from a range of diverse backgrounds, ideas and perspectives.” Continuing, the HLC team noted that “Caring for everyone in the campus community is central to UM-Dearborn's mission and it was clear from meetings with administration, faculty, staff, and students that they take this very seriously.”

The positive feedback received from the review team highlights the exceptional quality of education, the robust academic standards, and the commitment to continuous improvement that defines our institution. This success would not have been possible without the hard work, collaboration, and passion demonstrated by our campus community.
