Happy 2024!
Welcome to a new year and a new term. I hope you had a relaxing break and that you enjoyed the holidays. We want to share some updates and deadlines with you, hoping that you find them helpful.
Welcome to our new Associate Provost, Joan Remski!
Here are Joan’s and Maureen’s portfolios:
Joan Remski will support the campus as the Associate Provost for Faculty Development and Digital Learning. Joan will oversee the Mardigian Library, the Hub for Teaching and Learning, Digital Education, the open education initiative, and the campus HLC efforts. Joan will serve as the program review contact for MASU and assist with the P&T process and the KCP awards. Her portfolio will include new initiatives with the aim of growing online education and supporting faculty excellence and advancement.
Maureen Linker will now serve as Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education and Experiential Learning. Maureen’s responsibilities will include supporting curricular program development and assessment at the undergraduate level, undergraduate research and the SURE program, START advising, the university learning centers, career services, study abroad and global engagement, along with new initiatives focused on campus student employment as a high impact practice.
Faculty Awards Submission Reminder:
Please consider nominating one of your colleagues for our campus prestigious awards! Please note the Lecturer Excellence in Inclusive Teaching award, new this year. The deadline for submitting all nomination materials is Friday, January 26, 2024. All nominations should be submitted via the InfoReady application, and the links are provided below:

Important Winter Semester Dates:
- Martin Luther King Day: Monday, January 15th - No Classes
- Drop/Add Deadline: Monday, January 22nd
- Spring Recess: Saturday, February 24th - Sunday, March 3rd
- Honors Scholars Convocation: Tuesday, March 26th
- Chancellor's & Dean's Medallion Reception, Thursday, April 25th
- Examinations: Monday, April 22 - Friday, April 26th
- Commencement: Saturday, April 27th
Religious Holidays:
As with each academic semester, there are many religious holidays (for example, Ramadan begins in early March and Eid-al-Fitr in early April) that will require us to remain flexible and accommodate student needs. Please remember the university has a policy in place to protect religious devotions and obligations.
