Biography and Education

Kyongson Park is an assistant professor in the department of education at the College of Education, Health, and Human Services, University of Michigan-Dearborn. She received her Ph.D. in ESL/Second Language Studies program in the department of English from Purdue University, IN and obtained her Master’s degree in the department of Linguistics at Syracuse University, NY. She had another master's degree in the department of Literature at Seoul National University and bachelor's degree in the department of Literature at Ewha Womans University, South Korea. Dr. Park’s research interests include bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) education issues, Teacher collaboration(STEM), intercultural communication, and language assessment for linguistically and culturally diverse students. Through her teaching experience, Dr. Park has been teaching pre- and in-service teachers through K-12 teacher education for ESL licensure and TESOL certificate, both in-person and online formats, international teaching assistants at the university level, and K-12 English learners. Her teaching areas include ESL and Bilingual Education, ESL Teaching methods, Literacy and Assessment for English Learners and language and culture in education in online format. Dr. Park actively presents her studies at local and international conferences including TESOL Convention, AAAL, and MITESOL and her work can be found in English for Specific Purposes, The Journal of Studies in International Education, and INTESOL Journal.
