Campus Email Notification

The email communications options listed below are available to all campus employees.

General Information

  • Everyone on campus can send messages to the campus community.  This email group is called [email protected].  All faculty and staff have been opted-in to this email group. You may opt out of this email group.
  • Examples of information that should be sent to campus using this university business email list include: visiting faculty visits, thesis defenses, volunteer requests for campus events or programs and other campus or work-related information.

To unsubscribe:
1. Go to MCommunity.umich.edu
2. Find the group you want to unsubscribe from
3. Login in with your umich password
4. Click "Resign" to unsubscribe

Forum and FYI lists

  • The forum email ([email protected]) list allows faculty and staff to discuss, debate and share information and opinions on topics of his/her choice, usually of an academic nature.
  • The fyi ([email protected]) list allows for communication of non-university business.  Examples include: the selling of athletic tickets, the sale of homes and house-related items, campus offerings of free office supplies, community events without ties to the university, road construction updates, all fundraising activities that do not financially benefit UM-Dearborn and other like information.
  • All faculty and staff can opt-in (or out) of these email groups.

4. Click "Resign" to unsubscribe

Other email groups

  • There are three additional email groups that have restricted access - all faculty, all staff, everybody on campus (faculty and staff cannot opt in or out of the everybody email).
  • Contact ITS to be added as a sender to all staff or all faculty list. 

A limited number of faculty and staff have access to an email list that includes all faculty and staff currently employed at the university.  Faculty and staff cannot opt into or out of this list.  Supervisors make the determination regarding who can send to this email list.  Information that should be communicated to campus should have a direct impact on a large percentage of faculty and staff.  Examples include:

  • Campus closures
  • Closure of a building, parking lot/facility, etc.
  • Campus maintenance disruptions
  • Announcement of key staff hires (director level or above)
  • Changes to campus policies
  • Human resources related information
  • Campus deadlines (grant submittals, etc.)
  • Public safety concerns
