SUBJECT: Congratulations SURE 2024 Awardees!!

April 17, 2024 at 9:38 AM

Campus Community,

On behalf of the SURE Administration Committee we would like to extend our CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS!! to the following 50 faculty members who received funding for a SURE summer undergraduate student researcher. We had another record breaking year in terms of applications and are so proud of the breadth and range of our faculty's research expertise as well as their commitment to mentoring and developing undergraduate student researchers. These projects represent all four colleges, and include students at every stage of their academic career. Because of the number of excellent applications received this year we were not able to fund every proposal that was positively reviewed. However, with contributions from Enrollment Management, Commission for Women, Mardigian Library leadership, our college Deans, and the Office of the Provost, we were able to increase funding from an original estimate of 20-25 projects to our total of 50 faculty & students!

Throughout the summer, SURE students will be participating in professional development workshops, building cohort relationships with other undergraduate researchers, and engaging in fun, social activities in addition to their research work. Congratulations SURE 2024 faculty mentors and student researchers listed below, and a special thanks to our faculty reviewers for their hard work: Amanda Esquivel (CECS), Yunus Zeytuncu (CASL), Maureen Linker (Provost Office), Wayne Fu (COB), Raya Samet (CEHHS Librarian), Joel Seewald (Natural Sciences Librarian), and Carla Brooks (English, Communication, AAAS Librarian), and Chris Spilker (Head, Library Research Center).
