For Students Starting in Summer 2023:
The following are required steps in the orientation process for students starting in Summer 2023, access the Admitted Student Orientation Portal to complete these steps:
- The Math Placement Exam is an essential part of the orientation process and ensures proper placement into academic classes. Most incoming students are required to take the placement exam, unless students have waived the requirement based on the student’s declared major, combined with their transferable credit.
- If required, a voucher will be automatically issued to you to complete the exam. You must complete the placement exam before you can move on in the orientation process. For more information visit the math placement website.
- All new students must complete the New Student Resource Course. Completed in our student learning system (Canvas), you will work through a series of informative quizzes and modules covering important information about UM-Dearborn resources, and your academic college, to help you be successful. You complete this course at your own time and pace. Students log into this Canvas course using their uniqname and password.
- Please note, once you complete the New Student Resource Course, it can take up to 24-hours for you to have access to schedule your Academic Advising and Registration Appointment.
- This orientation academic advising and registration appointment is when you will meet with your Academic Advisor to review program requirements and register for your courses. Students must attend an advising appointment in order to have registration access granted for courses. As a reminder, students must have completed their New Student Resource Course and Math Placement Exam (if required) in order to have access to register for an appointment, and instructions are provided once you have completed the course to schedule your appointment.
