Student Awards
Recognizing excellence
At the College of Education, Health, and Human Services and University of Michigan-Dearborn, our students are recognized for their achievements both inside and outside the classroom.
Chancellor's and Dean's Medallions
Each semester, UM-Dearborn honors a very select group of students with a medallion. Chosen by faculty from their respective colleges, graduates are recognized for their outstanding quality of character, vitality, intellect, integrity and academic record.
To acknowledge the number of strong medallion candidates among UM-Dearborn’s top graduates, instead of one graduate per college selected, three medallions recipients are awarded per college starting with the Fall 2021 alumni — with one of those students receiving the top Chancellor’s Medallion.
CEHHS honors the Chancellor's and Dean's Medallion recipients from the past five years for their exceptional character, vitality, intellect, integrity, and academic achievements.

2026
Myron Woods, a UM-Dearborn Difference Maker, exemplifies the impact of access, community support, and purpose-driven education. After spending 30 years in prison, Myron built strong reading and writing skills—often using them to help others connect with family through letters. Following his release, COVID-era disruptions delayed his college plans until he connected with UM-Dearborn’s SOAR Program, which supports non-traditional adult learners. As he navigated new academic and technology challenges, peer support and faculty mentorship helped him gain confidence and build community. A Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) project focused on the mental health of returning citizens further clarified his professional mission: ensuring people reentering society have the support they need to succeed. Myron is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Health & Human Services, is already enrolled in a Master of Social Work program, and intends to pursue a doctorate—continuing a path centered on service and equity.
