Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, UM-Dearborn classes are being held remotely through the end of the semester, Summer I and Summer II. Standard Current Term Payment Plan

The University of Michigan-Dearborn provides a program for current terms available at the Student Accounts Self Service website in the Payment Plans menu.  Students enrolled in this program will traditionally have their tuition and fees divided into equal installments due on fixed dates once a month.  Questions regarding those payments should be directed to tnet.help@umich.edu.  The main payment plan description has been summarized below:

  • The standard current term payment plan expects students to pay multiple equal installments of his or her tuition balance typically on a third Wednesday of a month.  The exception is special "Financial Aid" payment plans that may require specific percentage payments of an overall balance on installment dates.
  • There are two main options of how to pay when selecting a payment plan: 1) AUTOMATIC or 2) SELF PAY. When a student selects the AUTOMATIC Payment Plan, he or she is electing to have all installments scheduled to be withdrawn from a saved payment method. If a students selects the SELF PAY Payment Plan, he or she is electing to manually make each installment on or before their due dates. Regardless of how you select to pay on your payment plan, the installment dates are the same for both. 3 Month plans not set in summer terms do not carry an AUTOMATIC option. 

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Consideration

With the unfortunate timing of irregular circumstances affecting students across campus, Student Accounts will offer special payment plans with a $0 setup fee to assist students with recent past due balances. These unique payment plans will allow students with outstanding Winter 2020 account balances to enroll in the Summer 2020 payment plan with or without actual Summer 2020 course enrollment. Students can pay off all Winter 2020 and Summer 2020 tuition and fees together across the Summer 2020 months using the Summer+Winter 2020 payment plan.

  • Summer+Winter 2020 4 Month AUTOMATIC, or SELF PAY Payment Plan
    - May 20, 2020

    - June 17, 2020
    - July 15, 2020 
    - August 19, 2020
    -- Enrollment begins March 20, 2020.
    -- No setup fee. Missed installments still incur late payment fees.
    -- Students with Winter 2020 account balances may enroll without registering for Summer 2020 courses.

  • Winter 2020 5 Month AUTOMATIC, or SELF PAY Payment Plan

    -- Self Pay indicates the student will make all installment payments manually before each deadline.

  • SELF PAY Financial Aid Payment Plan Winter 2020
    - January 22, 2020 [20% due]
    - February 19, 2020 [40% due]
    - March 18, 2020 [40% due]
    -- Enrollment begins November 10, 2019.
    -- Fall 2019 charges and all previous term charges must be paid.
    -- First installment amount due is reduced to accommodate pending financial aid disbursement.
    -- Self Pay indicates the student will make all installment payments manually before each deadline.

    -- Enrollment ends February 2, 2020

The final installment may be slightly larger than the others if the value cannot be divided evenly.

  • Most payment plan deadlines are extended beyond the first installment date to grant additional time to enroll.  When enrolling in the payment plan after the first installment date, the student must pay the first installment along with the non-refundable setup fee online at the time of registration.
  • Students who are attempting to enroll in a payment plan without making an online payment may calculate and pay the anticipated amounts at the Student Accounts office a day before enrollment is initiated. When going online to enroll the next day, if previous arrangements were calculated and performed correctly, the online payment plan enrollment process will not force an online payment to complete enrollment. Student Accounts staff cannot enroll students in payment plans in person at the Payments window.
