Application Deadlines
Important Notice for Winter 2025 International Applicants
If any of the following apply, you can still submit an application for Winter 2025:
- You are applying to a fully online program and are not requesting an F-1 student visa.
- You are in the U.S. and do not need to leave the U.S. to switch your visa status
- You already have a F-1 visa for Winter 2025 and want to transfer your SEVIS record to UM-Dearborn.
After submitting your application, please inform Graduate Studies at [email protected] about your situation.
If these scenarios do not apply, your next admission options are Summer 2025 or Fall 2025, depending on the program's available start terms.
Important Notice for Winter 2025 Domestic Applicants
For Winter 2025 rolling admissions, there is an advisory deadline of December 1. We will accept online applications and supporting materials through 11:59 PM EST on December 13. Classes begin on January 6, 2025.
Mark Your Calendars to Start Your Graduate Application!
Embarking on a graduate degree is a pivotal step in your professional development. To navigate the application process with ease, we encourage you to review the "How to Apply" instructions and become familiar with our admissions processing timelines. This preparation will ensure you submit your application with the right timeframe and when to expect the exciting moment when you receive your admission decision.
Our programs have varied admission cycles, with some offering enrollment in Fall, Winter, and Summer terms, while others limit admission to select terms. Various programs offer greater flexibility in the Summer term, offering courses in both seven and fourteen-week formats to accommodate varied learning paces. Please refer to our academic calendar to learn more about when each upcoming term begins.
We are currently welcoming graduate applications for the following terms: Winter 2025, Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and Winter 2026.
To receive a notification when the application opens for future terms, we recommend completing a request for information form for your desired start term. By doing so, you will receive timely updates on the admissions process and will learn more about your future area of study along the way. Prepare to advance your career and apply to join our community of Difference Makers.
Programs With Strict Deadlines and Limited Admit Terms
Select programs review applications with hard deadlines. They require the online application and all supplemental items to be received by the posted deadline in order to be considered for admission. They admit for limited start terms so planning ahead is advised.
To ensure a smooth admissions process and to allow sufficient time for you to verify your checklist for completeness prior to the deadline, we strongly recommend submitting your application early.
College | Program | Deadline |
---|---|---|
College of Engineering and Computer Science | Fall: Winter: | |
Fall Only: February 1 | ||
College of Education, Health, and Human Services | Fall Only: March 15 | |
Fall Only: Final Deadline: May 15 | ||
College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters | Clinical Health Psychology (MS) | Fall Only: March 15 |
All Other Programs are Rolling Admissions
All other graduate degree and certificate programs not listed above operate on a rolling admissions basis. For programs with rolling admissions, we advise submitting all documents by the advisory deadline to ensure consideration for your preferred term and to facilitate pre-term planning. Programs with rolling admissions will continue to accept applications and supporting materials through the "final day to submit" noted below. Applications are reviewed for a decision as they are completed. Reviewing our admissions processing timelines can set expectations for the time between submitting your application and receiving an admission decision.
Applicants with non-U.S. postsecondary academic history should allow for time to submit transcripts to an accepted third-party service for a course-by-course evaluation or additional time for an internal review. For more information on this requirement, please review our "How to Apply" Instructions.
Deadlines vary based on whether a student visa is required to enroll at UM-Dearborn.
The following deadlines have been established for applicants that do not require a student visa to enroll:
Term | Advisory Deadline |
---|---|
Fall | August 1 |
Winter | December 1 |
Summer | April 1 |
The final day to submit a new application is generally two weeks prior to the start of classes. We recommend all supplemental items be received by that date in order to allow time to receive an admission decision before classes start.
Final Day to Submit WINTER 2025 Application: Friday, December 13, 2024
The applications will close at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Exceptions beyond this deadline must have the approval of the program director. All supplemental items must be submitted for an exception to be considered.
The following deadlines have been established for international applicants requiring a student visa to attend in order to allow adequate time for processing of student visas. Applicants who require a visa but are currently in the U.S. or are transferring their SEVIS record from another institution may be given additional time.
Programs with rolling admissions will continue to accept applications and supporting materials after the advisory deadline. The latest date recommended to submit your application or supporting materials depends on whether the international transcript evaluation requirement is being met with an approved third-party evaluation or an internal evaluation has been requested.
Term | Advisory Deadline for Complete Admissions File | Latest With Third-Party Evaluation or No Evaluation Required | Latest With with Internal Evaluation |
---|---|---|---|
Fall (September start) | May 1 | June 30 | June 1 |
Winter (January start) | September 1 | October 31 | October 1 |
Summer (May start) | January 1 | February 28 | February 1 |
There are separate deadlines set by the Office of International Affairs (OIA) in order to have a Certificate of Eligibility (I-20/DS-2019) issued. Programs with rolling admissions will continue to make admission decisions for applicants currently outside the U.S. until the posted OIA deadline (Deadlines for Required Certificate of Eligibility Documentation).
- Fall Term: July 15
- Winter Term: November 15
- Summer Term: March 15
Files without an admission decision by this date will be administratively canceled. Consideration deferrals may be requested for eligible applications to update your application term to allow additional time to complete the admissions process.
