Application Deadlines

Mark Your Calendars to Start Your Graduate Application!

Embarking on a graduate degree is a pivotal step in your professional development. To navigate the application process with ease, we encourage you to review the "How to Apply" instructions and become familiar with our admissions processing timelines. This preparation will ensure you submit your application with the right timeframe and when to expect the exciting moment when you receive your admission decision.

Our programs have varied admission cycles, with some offering enrollment in Fall, Winter, and Summer terms, while others limit admission to select terms. Various programs offer greater flexibility in the Summer term, offering courses in both seven and fourteen-week formats to accommodate varied learning paces. Please refer to our academic calendar to learn more about when each upcoming term begins.

We are currently welcoming graduate applications for the following terms: Winter 2025, Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and Winter 2026.

To receive a notification when the application opens for future terms, we recommend completing a request for information form for your desired start term. By doing so, you will receive timely updates on the admissions process and will learn more about your future area of study along the way. Prepare to advance your career and apply to join our community of Difference Makers.

Programs With Hard Deadlines and Limited Admit Terms

Select programs review applications with hard deadlines. They strictly require the online application and all supplemental items to be received by the posted deadline in order to be considered for admission. Complete files (application and all required materials received) are routed for consideration after the posted deadline and decisions are released by program. Missing the deadline will require you to defer your application to a later start term for continued consideration. These programs admit for limited terms so planning ahead is advised.

To ensure a smooth admissions process and to allow sufficient time for you to verify your checklist for completeness prior to the deadline, we strongly recommend submitting your application early.

Programs with Priority Deadlines and Limited Start Terms

Select programs review applications with priority deadlines. The priority date is a suggested deadline to have a complete admissions file to receive a timely decision before or shortly after registration opens to allow for an optimal course schedule and ample planning time for your anticipated start term. Applications are reviewed for a decision as they are completed with decisions released individually. You can submit an application and materials through the final deadline in order to be considered for your preferred start term. Missing the final deadline will require you to defer your application to a later start term for continued consideration. These programs only admit for the Fall (September) so planning ahead is advised.

To ensure a smooth admissions process and to allow sufficient time for you to verify your checklist for completeness prior to the deadline, we strongly recommend submitting your application early. Applicants with non-U.S. postsecondary academic history should allow for time to submit transcripts to an accepted third-party service for a course-by-course evaluation or additional time for an internal review.  For more information on this requirement, please review our "How to Apply" Instructions

Programs with Rolling Admissions and Advisory Deadlines

All other graduate degree and certificate programs not listed with a hard or priority deadline above operate on a rolling, advisory basis. We recommend submitting all documents by the advisory deadline to ensure consideration for your preferred term and to facilitate pre-term planning. Programs with rolling admissions will continue to accept applications and supporting materials through the "final day to submit" noted below. Applications are reviewed for a decision as they are completed with decisions released individually. Reviewing our admissions processing timelines can set expectations for the time between submitting your application and receiving an admission decision.

Applicants with non-U.S. postsecondary academic history should allow for time to submit transcripts to an accepted third-party service for a course-by-course evaluation or additional time for an internal review.  For more information on this requirement, please review our "How to Apply" Instructions

Deadlines vary based on whether a student visa is required to enroll at UM-Dearborn.
